Prior to releasing 's British Steel, Judas Priest had been making moves toward streamlining their music into a simpler, less processed emacopborburtstew.scapvimasmejarimysraigegeargiman.co approach came to full fruition on British Steel. "Breaking the Law" combines a recognisable minor-key opening riff and a rhythmic chorus as its main hooks.

Breaking The Law, a song performed countless times around the world in such sun-kissed places as Rio, Texas and Honolulu, began its life on a drizzly day in a farmhouse in Staffordshire, when Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton got the idea for the song.. While Priest were working on their album British Steel, Tipton took the basic framework of the song to his writing partners.

General CommentTrue it's about breaking the law, but there are more lyrics than simply the chorus and I’ve always felt the song was more personal to the band. They're from Sheffield, which at one time was one of, or possibly the largest steel-producing city in Britain hence the name of the album "British Steel" () which this song features on.
